EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
In today’s reality we are faced with new weather related challenges that are unprecedented for all of modern society. In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy it is apparent that the potential destruction climate change could cause is far greater then the current infrastructure, both physical and social, is able to manage. With this knowledge, institutions and other organized communities and leaders are looking ahead in an effort to minimize the casualties usually associated with these types of disasters. Pratt Institute’s Design Management Graduate program recently took on this challenge and has asked students to combine design and innovation to solve for one aspect related to this massive challenge. The proposal outlined below is focused on developing new methods of training for business managers to leverage their existing skills and expertise, so they will be prepared to not only navigate the business landscape but also lead as Disaster Risk Reduction Managers.
